Cozy Weekend!

36 and scentless, wah wah wah! I went for this one. All because I had a free sample from Nordstrom and I liked it...you can call that, The Working Mother's Lazy Cheat! I ordered it tonight (triple points purchase!) so I'll share a photo when it arrives. I had never heard of the brand before...it's spicy? Ha!

I'm still very interested in scents and perfumes; thinking about getting a book on the matter. What else would a librarian do?

Cozy weekend stuff:

• Still reading The Goldfinch. I'm really loving it, and now that I'm in the final stretch the novel it is moving very quickly and I am (sort of) longing for the parts that felt slow. How can it almost be over? I made a lot of progress over the weekend; hope to be finished by tomorrow.
• Listening to a ton of jazz! You want cozy? Pop on some jazz.
• Shopping for tons of camping gear. Can't wait to spend some cozy time outdoors this winter.
• Had a nice lunch with extended family today (Sunday). We started at the wrong restaurant! But we took a scenic drive through Palm Beach to get to where we needed to be; took the oops! moment in stride and snapped silly pictures of the estate homes on the island (none really turned out, but you get the idea):

   Had a few moments to flip through some magazines (a bygone luxury of mine but I still indulge every once in awhile!). This was my favorite feature in September's Coastal Living - the pairing of salmon and mint (not the foods; the colors!):

Searching for a Signature Scent

How do you find a scent to wear when you don't know how to describe the smells you love and simultaneously you happen to be 36 years old? I know what I don't like (I think?), but finding a classic scent has proven to be a lifelong and super difficult mission for me.

If I liked Chanel No. 5 I'd stop there. But.

This weekend I smelled Boucheron for the first time; I thought it was going to be the one after I did some investigating. Whoa! So wrong (think industrial bathroom disinfectant; odor to cover up toilet smells). I was crushed. The sales associate that helped me with that catastrophe was quick to take me to "younger" scents - a couple Ralph Lauren/Dior/Yves Saint Laurent perfumes. However...she was keen on selling me something "new" which I don't want. I want something that's been around a while and ain't going nowhere.

How do you find a scent? How how how? I'm getting there one sniff and whiff at a time. Stay tuned.
